The Purple Poppy Project
Best Selling Author Hannah Russell and Little Alf release clothing range to support Brooke Action for working horses and donkeys.
Hannah and Little Alf became Brooke ‘Every Horse Remembered’ Ambassadors at the start of 2018 with the campaign marking 100 years since the end of world war one. It is about raising awareness for the millions of horses, donkeys and mules that gave their lives in the first world war, as well as the millions of equines that still work around the world today.
As Ambassadors Hannah and Little Alf are highlighting the heroic struggle of working horses past and present.
Through their roles as ambassadors, Hannah came up with the idea of creating a design which could be put on to clothing and merchandise to remember the horses who lost their lives.
Hannah said ‘I already have a selection of Little Alf clothing which sells really well. I thought it would be a nice idea to create a special limited edition design which would help Brooke. The design is really special and I think it will be great to create awareness for the campaign and for the future of working horses and donkeys’
The design is Little Alf holding a purple poppy. The purple poppy symbol was created in 2006 to remember the animals who lost their lives in the war.
The design can be found on men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as a small selection of merchandise with 20% of every sale going back to Brooke Action for working horses and donkeys. You can purchase the clothing and products here: https://shop.spreadshirt.co.uk/littlealf/
Brooke is an international charity that protects and improves the lives of the working horses, donkeys, and mules that give people in the developing world the opportunity to work their way out of poverty. Over 100 million of these animals are currently working worldwide, earning an income that around 600 million people rely on to put food on their tables, send their children to school and build better futures for themselves and their families.
