Scottish based equestrian performance brand Apt Cavalier has been touring British Eventing venues in Scotland, saying thank you to volunteers by donating a voucher for each person who gives up their time to help run the event. The campaign is designed to encourage competitors to give back to the sport.
Sarah Johnstone, who founded Apt Cavalier in 2017 said, “On attending a volunteers training course at the start of the season, I chatted with many of the attendees and quickly recognised that very few were competitors. Therefore, I launched the “I’m a Cavalier Volunteer” campaign to encourage competitors to attend their local event as a volunteer on the day they weren’t competing, and as a ‘thank you’ they would get some money off new competition or training kit from Apt Cavalier.”
Apt cavalier has given their #CavalierVolunteer vouchers out at Forgandenny, Floors Castle International and Hopetoun House so far, their next stop being brand new Scottish event Glamis Castle which is due to be held on the first weekend of August. Events are able to advertise in advance that the vouchers will be handed out, which has been a great incentive to get riders to sign up to give their time.
Sarah said, “Volunteers generally give their time because they love the sport and don’t expect a reward, but so many of them popped into our trade stand to say how much they appreciated the gesture and were excited to spend their voucher.”
As the vouchers have been so well received, Sarah hopes to expand the campaign next season by also targeting events out with Scotland and upping the rewards available to dedicated volunteers.
Apt Cavalier is based in the Scottish Borders and creates innovative performance wear for competition and training. Their performance collection is made in the UK and Europe from the highest quality technical fabric and is loved by riders from Grassroots to 5*.
